Ever feel like the guy on the left?

When we moved to Romania, we had to deal with ANAF (Romania’s tax authority).
After two in-person visits, my wife wasn’t having any success in getting someone to help her with the official paperwork. She was so frustrated when she got back that she told me to go.

I’m not sure what she expected of me but I went anyway. When asked what my profession was by the office worker at ANAF, I said “I work for the Mexican Cartel” with a serious face.

Long story short, we got the necessary paperwork completed and the person at ANAF even gave me his personal email and phone number and said to contact him if we needed anything else. 😁

Finding a Good Headline

Ever having trouble coming up with a good headline?

Try running your headline ideas in this tool. I use it to come up with my podcast titles. Some smart sounding jargon about the tool:

The Headline Quality Score is based on a multivariate linguistic algorithm built on the principles of Behavior Model theory and Sharethrough's neuroscience and advertising research. The algorithm takes into account more than 300 unique variables, including EEG data and Natural Language Processing, enabling your native ads to capture attention, increase engagement and deliver a stronger impression.

The Smoking Gun

How much does it cost to create a podcast?

This is a question I always get asked as a podcast host.

The costs to produce a quality podcast episode can run into the thousands.

When you factor in:

-       Host fees
-       Tools utilized
-       Audio engineer/editor
-       Marketer for the distribution
-       Graphic designer for the artwork
-       Copy writer for the show title/description

But I found a way to be a little resourceful and keep costs to a minimum.

Broken out, the monthly costs to run my podcast are:

-       Virtual assistant ~ $48
-       Podpage (website) ~ $15
-       Sound/video editor ~ $200
-       Riverside (recording tool) ~ $13
-       Descript (use to make clips) ~ $15
-       Buzzsprout (podcast distribution) ~ $12

So, roughly $250 for assistance and another $55 for tools (but not including my time).

There’s a lot of costs that goes into creating and running a podcast.

The most important thing is to learn how to do everything yourself and then outsource the things that you don’t like and take you the most time.

Questions about this? Feel free to comment on my post.

The End

Rough day today though. My 3yr old daughter was sick coughing last night so I’ve been up since 3:00am. 😩

Aside from that, I’ve been enjoying the weather the past few days here in Bucharest. Trips to Edenland Park, Cinema park Floreasca (our neighborhood park), and even a workday lunch at a Greek cafe nearby. I’ve also had time to try some new growth tactics for the podcast such as distributing content on startup related LinkedIn groups and Quora. They seem to be working. More to come on that.

Have a great weekend!
